The core technology - given the name BioSep® is built on an invention which makes it possible to separate packaged food waste into pure biomass and undesired components, especially plastic, from collected wet organic waste.
The patented BioSep® technology will give significant competitive advantages. Our technology will enable a broader operational field with regards to the access of feedstock input. Norsk Biogassubstrat has processed waste from food industry, the grocery and restaurant businesses and sorted wet organic waste from private households without encountering any problems. These waste streams comprise packaged and unpackaged goods. All of these waste streams can be processed simultaneously.
The BioSep® platform has, over a long period, been tested in an operating environment and has performed impeccably. Analysis of the separated reject shows a very low impact of organic residue in the reject due to the unique washing feature in the BioSep technology.
Maintenance cost have also been shown to be minimal.
The technology makes it possible for garbage trucks and transportation logistics to gather wet organic segments in plastic bags. Experience from the district of Vestfold, where this type of waste collection method has been applied for our test purpose, shows significant efficacious advantages with regards to the logistics of collecting waste. Specifically our treatment process allows waste collectors to avoid the use of plastic bins to transport the waste streams therefor negating the need to wash such bins post collection. Plants with pre-treatment units that are able to handle this type of waste collection, are considered more favourably by waste management enterprises due to this competitive advantage.
The principle design, originally developed by Norsk Biogassubstrat AS, has been acquired by Norsk Biogass AS who together with Rapid Granulator AB, our Swedish manefacturing partner, have developed and manufactured the technology.
